G/F.O.T.T.® | Ground Course
Five or six-day multiprofessional course in theory and practice including an e-learning module, based on the Bobath concept.
Designed for participants who have completed their professional training and work therapeutically with neurological patients.
The course aims and objectives of the six-day course are the same as those of the five-day course.
Target group
Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, registered nurses, doctors
Participation requirement
It is assumed that participants are familiar with transferring patients from the wheelchair to the treatment bench.
A Bobath course or an introduction to the Bobath concept is desirable, but not a prerequisite.

2 F.O.T.T.® Instructors with 18 participants or 1 F.O.T.T.® Instructor with 12 participants
Course aims and objectives
- Develop an understanding of the relationship between posture and movement and facio-oral functions
- Apply principles, methods and techniques in examination and treatment of patients. Modify procedures according to the needs of the patient.
Course content
- Anatomy and physiology of the facial-oral tract
- Typical movement problems in patients with brain injury and their impact on food intake, breathing, voice and facial expression
- Aspects of safe eating and drinking considering different food consistencies
- Therapeutic oral hygiene
Methods
- Teaching theoretical knowledge, self-experience and practical work of the participants with each other under supervision of the course instructor
- Patient demonstration by the course instructor
- Assessment and treatment of patients by the course participants, under supervision of the course leader and subsequent video analysis
